HI! Welcome to my writer and blogger website. My legal name is Rebecca, but I write under the name Bex. I got the nickname during college and fell in love with it. Well, sort of. It’s definitely easier to remember, which is something us aspiring authors want: to be remembered.
Who am I?
I’m an aspiring author of Christian fiction that places some form of neurodiversity into my stories, and I blog about my neurodivergent life.
- My preteen daughter has ADHD and autism
- I have anxiety and bipolar II
- My mother suffered a TBI, which mimics anxiety, depression and ADD.
- My husband’s just a weirdo. 😆
About My Writing:
Fiction writer: I have finished a contemporary romance about a spunky nanny and her blind employer that I’m editing and preparing to submit. My WIP is a contemporary magical realism about a cynical autistic woman who discovers that she can smell emotions. Find out more here.
Blogger: On this website, you will find a devotional for parents of complex kids. I do my best to connect the challenge of parenting with God’s living Word. They are short, easy reads full of encourage, often education, and hopefully, always entertainment. I also have a blog called Stuck in the Middle. It’s about my three-generational neurodivergent life. I am planning to expand my blog, but right now I’m researching the possibilities and praying for God’s wisdom. You’ll find my blog page here.
Things (maybe interesting?) to know about me:
- My love of writing came through therapy.
- My day job is a paralegal, and I get to work for my best friend.
- It’s honestly the only reason I still have a day job.
- I love coffee and tea. The one I love more depends on my mood.
- I have a furry cat writing partner and two other animals that get to stick around because my daughter and hubby love them.
- My daughter also has “pets” I don’t acknowledge: Madagascar hissing cockroaches and the occasional praying mantis and wolf spiders.
- My hobbies include gaming🎮 with my husband when we actually have time (like, never), reading/listening 📚🎧 to books, gardening🪴 with my bestie, volleyball🏐, exercising😓 (although I’m less sure this is a hobby so much as a necessity) and 🎲playing board games—the more complex the better—with friends.
- My favorite genre to read is fantasy and WWII stories.
- I sing on my church’s worship team, am a novice guitar player and technically can play the piano, but am super rusty.
- I make lists about myself that are way too long😅.
